The current pandemic is affecting life in many different ways. We know our local producers lots of concerns and questions. This page will be updated over time to include more resources and answers. We are part of a broader team of universities, governmental and non-governmental partners working to serve our communities. You’ll find links, information, and support from these partners throughout the information below.

Is it safe to sell food right now?

Will farmers markets remain open?

At this time, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) has offered guidance that “Because farmers’ markets are retail enterprises that provide agriculturally-produced food products that consumers need, the Governor’s Order does not require you to shut down your farmers’ market.” Markets should stay in contact with their local health departments and take steps to prevent the spread of disease. See and download their guidance document here.

See Commissioner Quarles’ full message.

Be sure to contact each of your markets to verify they will be open, as well as any particular policies or procedures, and to verify any changes in hours or locations.
