Dear Extension Colleagues,

We are continuing to balance our mission and the COVID-19 virus situation. We are watching with pride as you convert to web-based outreach in new and creative ways to be proactive. We continue to encourage you to support each other as you implement these technologies. At this time we are asking that you extend your plans from the original April 6 date to now mid-May to use primarily technology-based methods for your work.

As Dr. Cox states below, on-campus, RCARS, and Grain and Forage Center UKREC Extension faculty and staff should work with their unit leaders to make decisions about remote work situations. Please continue to make yourself available to agents and clientele via web, phone, etc. to share your expertise.

At this time, local offices are encouraged to consider limiting public access to facilities in accordance to their local government/emergency management plans. District Directors will be working with county-based Extension employees to manage remote work options when appropriate while continuing to meet our mission.

Our program leaders are giving outstanding leadership to provide answers to your questions and provide web-based resources for you. Please continue to direct your subject matter/program-related questions to them.

If you have face to face contact with clientele you must continue to follow sanitizing surfaces, social distancing and limit of ten people together.

If you need IT support, District Techs will be available via email, Skype and Teams. Most support can be provided remotely.

We know there are many questions and we are working to find answers related to impending deadlines, etc. Plans are being developed regarding services and operational expectations of the UK Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Division of Regulatory Services, Plant Diagnostics and the Soil Testing program as we continue to support our producers.

Hayley Pierce is organizing a specific Extension based COVID-19 webpage. You will receive the specific weblink soon, as well as it being linked to the CAFE COVID-19 site.

Continue to keep us in the loop of the ways you are supporting your counties while keeping safe and healthy.
